Dear Reader:
Though I grew up in Middle America, I always saw America as a giant melting pot. My mother is an Italian immigrant and my great-grandmother, who is still alive today, would always tell stories about her journey to America from Poland as a child. In my youth, I never had the experience of living in an immigrant community, but would often imagine what life would have been like for the immigrants that came to America in droves, stopping at Ellis Island on their way.
When I moved to New York, I started to find the America I always envisioned in Queens, which is today the most culturally diverse county in the world. And to be frank, I can’t get enough of the food: I feel as though I have the entire world right at my doorstep. It gives me great pleasure to share this experience with all of you in the Eating Like a King in Queens Blog.
I hope you will find this information useful, and will return to write about your own food experiences.
Wishing You All The Best,
Robert McCutcheon
